Case Overview:

A woman became infected due to acute cholecystitis and ended up developing sepsis. She was intubated and unfortunately developed metabolic acidosis. Graphics were created to help show how metabolic acidosis works in the blood. The pH drops in the blood and the patient tries to get rid of the acid by blowing off (exhaling) Co2. The source of the infection continues to keep producing acid and the patient can’t keep up with the amount produced. The acid keeps building in the blood which causes acidosis and leads to cardiac collapse. The jury found in favor of the defense.
