Case Overview:

This case involved a 63-year-old patient with a 45-year smoking history. He had post-op surgical complications resulting from the diagnosis of right upper lobe non-small cell lung cancer. The defendant, a thoracic surgeon, performed a right lung lobectomy to remove the lung mass. Using illustrations, we were able to show that after the lobe had been removed the anatomy could shift within the thoracic cavity and could result in lung function to change. The jury found in favor of the defense.
